The Phoenix Academy Foundation Studies (Certificate IV) Course provides students at pre-undergraduate level with a bridge between previous academic studies and the academic requirements for entry to first year University, or to a Diploma of Business (University Pathway).

On successful completion of the program students are eligible for direct entry to Murdoch University, Curtin University, The University of Western Australia, University of Notre Dame, Central Queensland University, Edith Cowan University, Torrens University Australia, and other universities of choice at first year level.

The Phoenix Foundation Studies meets entry to a variety of programs in Business, Law, Information Technology, Health Sciences, and Engineering.

This self-paced study program will ensure you understand the essential academic skills you must have to successfully negotiate your future or current university course. There is an emphasis on applied skills in the academic setting. The program is broken down into manageable units and subunits allowing you to focus on those areas of academic English you may be needing help with.

Key topics include critical thinking, academic integrity and plagiarism, paraphrasing, quotations, formatting and referencing, essay question strategies, paragraph building, transitional signals, reflective writing, argumentative essays, academic reading, language for uncertainty, using sources, following an argument in a long article, and other associated academic skills.

This program includes over 24 hours of class videos (on demand) and extensive exercises and further study recommendations. Tutorial support is an additional option.

Recommended for learners who want to develop their proficiency in all four skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking – as well as their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary for achieving their desired IELTS test score.

The online self-study course provides practice activities for learners who are aiming for an IELTS band score of between 4.5 and 7.5. The first blended course is aimed at an IELTS 4.5 – 5.5 range and the second blended course is aimed at an IELTS 6.0 -7.5 range. The courses are suitable for first-time test-takers as well as those who are repeating the test.

The Phoenix Higher Education Academic Skills Program (HASP) has been adapted from our intensive Academic English Program. This 10 week program provides students essential academic skills needed to be successful at University. The course is available fully online and can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Weekly, students will have access to 2 hours of ‘real-time’ teacher guided lessons where students connect with real teachers ‘live’ within our LMS through ZOOM.

This course can be taken co-curricular (while students are studying) or prior to students commencing their principal course.
