Phoenix Academy is based in Perth, Western Australia. Phoenix Academy is one of Australia’s oldest English Language institutions and the largest specialist centre in Perth in the public and private sector.
From its inception in 1989 Phoenix Academy has successfully managed the enrolment, admission, accommodation, orientation, training and on-going pastoral care for over 36,000 students. With clients from over 50 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America making Phoenix Academy one of Australia’s most ethnically diverse language centres. Phoenix offers a flexible and complete study package and a range of student support services from airport meet and greet to homestay or on-campus accommodation.
Students can start on any Monday throughout the year. All students undertake an orientation program on arrival, have extensive counselling services available on a 24 hour basis, and are provided graduation certificates on completion of programs. The majority of students undertake Phoenix programs as a precursor to further study in West Australian schools, colleges and universities.
Quality and Customer care has always been at the heart of Phoenix Academy’s business strategy, allowing the company to prosper in a very competitive international education market. The motto “We Care” was adopted in 1989 and remains a guiding philosophy today, differentiating Phoenix Academy from most of its competitors. Phoenix’s goal is to raise the standards of English Language competency of its clients and today the name Phoenix Training is synonymous with Quality and Best Practice.
Phoenix Academy is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and is accredited under the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) . Phoenix Academy provides pathways to our Partner Universities Curtin, Murdoch, CQU, UWA and Edith Cowan.
Phoenix Academy has two shareholders: Mr Brian Walsh (Founder and Chair) and Mrs Robynne Walsh (Founder and Board Member). Robynne and Brian are well respected within the education industry and also sit on a number of national and state educational peak body councils e.g. WAPETIA, Study Perth, CCI International Trade Committee. Robynne Walsh was the recipient of the prestigious IDP Educator of the Year Award in 2002 and the 2018 CISWA WA Outstanding Individual in International Education Award. Phoenix Academy and Robynne Walsh also won the Western Australian International Business Council Award for 2002. In addition, Phoenix Academy was the winner of the West Australian Government’s 2002 and 2003 Education Exporter of the Year award.
The Phoenix Academy campus is centrally located in West Perth, just 1.7 kms from the city centre, with the capacity for 405 students. Phoenix Academy also owns and operates Beatty Lodge, a three star 120-bed accommodation complex next to the Perth campus which is open to the public.

School of English – A full range of ELICOS programs are offered including: General English; Cambridge English Examination Courses, Academic English (University Preparation & High School Preparation), English for Specific Purposes e.g. English for Business, and Individual or Group Study Tours.
School of Business – offers pre-university and university level courses from Certificate IV through to Diploma level in Business and related disciplines. These courses are all recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework and articulate with Australian universities for entrance and advanced standing status. Phoenix Academy has articulations with Curtin University, Murdoch University, Edith Cowan University, and the University of Western Australia providing direct entry into first or second year of University.
School of Professional Training – offers turnkey project management services and customised training solutions both in Australia and offshore for a wide range of clients from large corporations to small businesses. Phoenix Academy’s success in this area is due to its capacity to source and engage industry and academic experts in specialty areas. In addition, the School of Professional Training forms partnerships or consortia’s with other training providers where the scope of delivery falls outside its own. Some past and present clients are SinoSteel (joint venture with Hamersley Iron), Baosteel, Central Iron & Steel Research Institute (CISRI), China Australia LNG Fund, Inpex, Shanxi Health Dept, Eni Australia, Woodside Petroleum, Malaysian and Thai Ministries of Education, the Bangkok Bank and Thai Airways.
Institute for Teaching Excellence (ITE) – ITE is the Phoenix Academy Teacher Training Centre which is an accredited and registered Cambridge ESOL Examinations and Training Centre. ITE offers Australian and overseas teachers the Cambridge Certificate or Diploma of English Language Teaching (CELTA and Delta). This centre also acts as a recruitment agency to send fully qualified English Teachers overseas for short and long-term contracts.
Link2Uni – offers free academic counselling and career advice to students. It also assists students and agents to prepare an application to a university, college or high school and receive an offer of study in the shortest possible time frame. Link2uni provides access for students and agents to a range of institutions including: Edith Cowan University (ECU), Curtin University, Murdoch University and Department of Education & Training in Western Australia.
